About This Workshop
Have you ever wanted to create your own Fascinator for an upcoming wedding or day at the races? In
this beginners/improvers one-day workshop, course tutor Joanne Edwards will show you how to
create your very own couture fascinator.
You’ll learn how to create a fascinator base on a comb or hairband and be introduced to traditional
millinery stitches which will enable you to carry on creating at home. You will also explore different
methods and materials to trim and decorate your work - from learning how to make sculptural
sinamay twists and use fanciful feathers, to adding instant glamour with veiling.
***The image shown is an indication of the type of hat you will create, however please note it will vary in design.
You’ll leave with:
- A supplier list for your material needs after the course (such as where you can purchase tools)
- Your finished fascinator
Refreshments will be provided and we will break for a 30 minute lunch at 1pm.
A local shop and cafe/restaurant are just a few minutes walk away, however please feel free to bring your own lunch.
All materials are provided, please bring a notebook/pen if you wish to take notes and a small box to take away your work.
A good basic knowledge of hand sewing and some patience are required for this course, as there's a lots of sewing involved! (Please get in touch if this is an issue for you so we can discuss alternative options).
During the course feel free to take lots of photos and videos, and keep an open mind as to what you
can create on the day. Keep practising and photographing your work as you ‘create’ and continue to be
